Creating Fire
The objective of this is to create fire like a soldier would. What we had to do was catch a spark with flint and steel. We have a video of us catching the spark that you should watch. But I think we could all agree that starting the fire wasn't easy, people even cut themselves trying but we found a way to catch a spark. The easiest way to catch a spark is to find the sharpest point and hit it on the steel at a 45ish degree angle. The next part of this would be to actually make fire but we couldn't because we were inside the school.
Creating Hard Tack
The objective of this was to bake the best looking and tasting hard tack possible. Hard tack was the soldiers' rations so we all made some. In my personal opinion it was terrible, it made me gag. The recipe of hard tack if you want to make your own is flour, water, and salt. Our hard tack turned out to be way too thick. I think this happened because our dough was super sticky so we added more flour to make it less sticky and then it rose and rose.
