Aircraft changed the war a lot. The reason it changed the war is because you could see where the enemy resources were coming from and then have your artillery start bombing these resources. Airplanes gradually changed as the war moved on. Planes were made out of wood and canvas. At the beginning of the war the planes only use was to scout out the enemy. However, if there was another plane in the sky you had to try to shoot it down but the plane couldn't carry much weight so they had to shoot at each other with pistols. Planes eventually evolved so that you could put machine guns on them. They were still given a pistol, not to shoot at enemy planes, but if they got shot down or ran out of fuel, they had the option to not risk pain of crashing and kill themselves. There were different types of planes. There were planes that could turn really well and planes that were fast. Another type of aircraft is the zeppelin. A zeppelin was big almost like blimp but bigger. The way it worked was it was full of air at the top so then it was almost impossible to shoot down. Zepplins carried people like a plane or ship would to get across the country but zeppelins also carried resources. Everyone thought zeppelins would be unstoppable but they soon figured out how to shoot them down. The way they knocked them down was with a flare. As soon as fire hit the zeppelin it was all going to be on fire and going to go down.
